Serving local beef in school meals is a growing trend nationwide as farm to school programs expand to include the whole plate. Learn from successful beef to school models from California and Montana including TomKat Ranch, Humboldt County Office of Education, Monterey-Peninsula Unified School District, and Montana Beef to School Project. Presenters will discuss their beef to school project history, achievements, challenges, model(s), future goals, etc. Special events, donation and purchased models will be discussed. Participants will explore recommendations, what steps they can take to feature local beef at their school, and where to get additional resources including the new Montana Beef to School Case Study report. The presenters represent different aspects of the beef to school supply chain making this session relevant for all farm to school audiences.
