In this workshop, learn how to utilize USDA funding through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide healthy meals in afterschool and summer programs for youth under the age 18. Learn how United Way California Capital Region partners with Davis Joint Unified School District to vend meals to program sites. DJUSD sources 55% of their produce from within a 300-mile radius of the City of Davis. This session will share how nonprofits, faith based organizations and other community based organizations have the opportunity to do the same - provide locally sourced and balanced meals in out of school time programs. Learn about eligibility requirements, the application process, and what it takes to run a federally funded healthy meals program.
