Smart design, interpretive displays and functional elements can go a long way to creating educational garden sites that inspire and engage students and teachers. As a Life Lab trainer, school garden coordinator, and designer and former garden manager of the Life Lab Garden Classroom John will share photos and insight from the hundreds of school gardens he has visited.

Looking at school gardens as an ecosystem removes the limitations of our imagination. Manteca USD has grown their F2S program in the last two years and this will show their approach. Manteca has several gardens and a farm that all require different approaches and balancing them has proven challenging. Approaching our program's garden and farm as ecosystems has proved most effective. Whether you are just starting out or looking to expand your garden this workshop will leave you with a list of ideas to enhance your site.
